About this role

TYPE OF POSITION: Part-time COMPENSATION: $40 per hour (up to 200 hours); up to $2,000 for mileage reimbursement LENGTH OF SERVICE: 2026-2027 school year; the Residency Officer position is renewed annually pending budget approval LOCATION: District-wide POSITION OVERVIEW: The Residency Officer will investigate any allegations or residency fraud in the Seekonk Public Schools working with school personnel and families to determine accurate residence in Seekonk, MA. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must have a valid driver's license

• Must be an individual of professional and personal integrity

• Must be sensitive to cultural diversity

• Previous experience in school system setting, law enforcement, investigation experience or social work is desirable

• Experience in and knowledge of the community is desirable

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED

RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS which include but are not limited to:

• Confer with Superintendent or designee bi-weekly (or as needed) on issues related to student enrollment and verification of student residency.

• Research and investigate residency information using available technology, home visits, and appropriate investigative resources.

• Present letters requesting verification of residency including withdrawal letters as appropriate.

• Represent the district during enrollment and residency issues.

• Pursue non-residency and false claims of residency on behalf of the school district.

• Review documents to determine the student's eligibility to attend schools in the district; verify proof of residency documents presented at time of student registration if questionable.

• Conduct home visits to verify the address designated as the student's primary residence.

• Conduct spot-checks at key drop-off locations to assist in determining the residency of students in question.

• Work collaboratively with staff, school personnel, school resource officers and others for the purpose of gathering information regarding verification of residency.

• Review shared housing documentation and follow up on required information.

• Interpret school district policies and regulations regarding residency requirements to parents.

• Maintain files and records regarding residency inquiries; ensure the availability of documentation and compliance with established guidelines.

• Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or her/her designee.
