• Minimum 18 years of age

• High School Diploma or GED

Purpose: The aide/para assists the instructor in creating a positive learning environment to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. To accomplish these tasks, the aide/para works closely with the staff and administration to support students. Essential Functions

• Ability to assist in facilitating the personal, social and intellectual development of students.

• Ability to assist in establishing a positive learning environment, and respon to the individual educational needs of students.

• Ability to ensure all activities conform to District guidelines.

• Ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community.

• Ability to be flexible as schedules and daily activities may change.

• Ability to operate all classroom equipment appropriately as required.

• Ability to work to implement the vision and mission of the District.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions

• Requires stooping, bending, kneeling, turning, and reaching.

• Requires prolonged sitting or standing.

• Must ocassionally work in noisy and crowded environments with numerous interruptions.

General Responsibilities

• Ability to prepare for classroom activities under the supervision of a licensed teacher.

• Ability to work with small groups of students to practice skills introduced by the teacher.

• Ability to assist individual children in need of special attention.

• Ability to perform duties as required.

• Ability to assist teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, such as serving snack and assisting students with toileting and clothing routines.

• Ability to observe and follow all school district policies at all times.

• Ability to keep student and personnel information and records confidential.

• Ability to perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as directed by the Principal or Teacher.
