About this role
Associate / Special Education Paraeducator Provide direct instructional, behavioral, and personal care support to students with special needs under the direction of a licensed Special Education Teacher, helping ensure a safe, inclusive, and effective learning environment. Key Responsibilities
• Instructional Support: Assist individual students or small groups with academic tasks, reinforcing lessons prepared by the teacher.
• IEP & Behavior Support: Help implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and positive behavior intervention plans; track and record daily progress or behavior data.
• Personal Care: Provide assistance with daily living needs as needed (e.g., mobility, feeding, personal hygiene/toileting).
• Supervision: Monitor assigned students during non-instructional times, including recess, lunch, hallway transitions, and bus loading/unloading.
• Classroom Assistance: Assist with setting up equipment, adapting learning materials, and maintaining an orderly classroom.
Qualifications
• Education: High School Diploma or GED required
• Experience: Experience working with children or individuals with special needs preferred.
• Skills:
• Strong patience, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow teacher directions and district policies consistently.
• Ability to maintain strict student confidentiality.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to bend, stoop, stand for extended periods, and occasionally lift or assist students.
