About this role
The K-5 campus of Pierce School is seeking a recess monitor to support recess at our Boylston Street Park. Daily hours begin at 9:45am with check in at the main office and gathering equipment. Recess begins at 10am and continues until 1:10pm. Hours end at 1:15pm when materials are returned to the main office. On outdoor recess days, duties include:
• Overseeing general recess and park conditions and reporting concerns to the main office.
• Ensuring student safetly.
• Supporting positive interaction and play bewteen students, including modeling effective play and coaching conflict resolution.
• Reporting discipline issues to the main office.
• Respindng to minor injuries; calling for nursing support as appropriate.
On indoor recess days, duties include:
• Supervising indoor classroom recess.
• At times providing alternate activities for students based on their individual needs.
The ideal candidate loves children, is comfortable redirecting student behavior with positive words and tone, and is eager to support structured and independent play. Prior coaching experience is preferred, but not required. Pay is $25/hour.
