About this role
The New Hope-Solebury School District is seeking a dedicated, student-centered Anticipated Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher supporting the Middle School. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, delivering, and modifying instruction to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Position Type: Temporary / Long-Term Substitute Expected Dates: Estimated August 2026 through TBD Location: New Hope-Solebury Middle School Essential Job Functions
• Plan, prepare, and deliver differentiated, data-driven instruction tailored to students' individual goals in both pull-out (specialized) and push-in (co-taught) settings.
• Implement student IEPs with fidelity, ensuring all accommodations, modifications, and specially designed instruction (SDI) are provided in compliance with state and federal laws.
• Partner closely with general education teachers, guidance counselors, speech therapists, and other specialists to ensure a cohesive and inclusive learning environment.
• Administer formal and informal assessments, collect rigorous academic and behavioral data, and maintain accurate records to track student progress toward IEP goals.
• Implement Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs), utilize de-escalation strategies, and foster a safe, supportive classroom culture that aligns with Middle School expectations.
• Maintain regular, professional communication with parents, guardians, and administration regarding student growth, behavioral data, and academic performance.
• Maintain active supervision of students during instructional and non-instructional periods (e.g., transitions, lunch, or arrival/dismissal) to ensure a safe learning environment.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Valid and active Pennsylvania Special Education Certification (Special Education PK-12, 7-12, or PreK-8 depending on exact grade assignment).
• Strong knowledge of middle school curriculum, inclusive practices, differentiated instruction, and behavior management strategies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Mandatory Clearances: Current and valid PA state-mandated clearances required prior to hire.
