Position: Food Service Director Position Summary: The Food Service Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and administration of the school district's nutrition services program. This position ensures that all meal programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations while providing nutritious and appealing meals to students. The Food Service Director oversees budgeting, procurement, staffing, menu planning, food safety, and operational efficiency, while promoting exceptional customer service and supporting student wellness. Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Food Service Management, Nutrition, Dietetics, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
• Meets the MDE requirements for Food Service Director.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in school nutrition or food service management.
• Certified Food Protection Manager credential (ServSafe or equivalent).
• Meets USDA Professional Standards for Food Service Directors.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local food service regulations.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP principles.
• Ability to present information and answer questions from staff, parents and administrators.
• Ability to write reports and correspondence.
Job Requirements:
• Oversee menu planning to meet USDA and MDE meal pattern standards and Smart Snacks regulations.
• Ensure compliance with all USDA Child Nutrition Programs.
• Coordinate and prepare for health department inspections and MDE administrative reviews.
• Manage budgeting, accounting and claims for reimbursement.
• Menu development, ordering, inventory management and compliance logs.
• Oversee staff recruitment, scheduling, training and evaluation.
• Attend state and national trainings on USDA/MDE policies.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Adhere to Board policies.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to work in commercial kitchen environments with varying temperatures.
• Ability to travel between district facilities.
• Other duties as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent.
