Jenks Public Schools Job Description Position: English Language Development (ELD) Student Mentor - Grant Funded Reports to: Director of Student Support & Accountability & District ELD Coordinator Supervises: None Qualifications:

• College degree preferred.

• Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English, and preferred one of the represented languages of the student population (Zomi, Burmese, Dari, Persian, Pashto, Spanish, or Arabic).

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office components, Google Drive, preferred.

• Previous experience working with displaced populations (refugee, asylee, etc.).

• Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.

• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Position Goals: Support refugee/asylee/parolee students and parents assimilation into United States culture and in Jenks Public Schools. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Support the ELD Instructional Assistants (Refugee) with student and parent needs at impacted school sites.

• Maintain accurate student data, monthly reports, including student files, and caseload.

• Maintain accurate parent interaction records.

• Organize and host parent education events for identified families.

• Facilitate/assist ELD Program parent communication with all sites, departments, and programs throughout the district.

• Facilitate communication and coordination with community agencies.

• Complete other duties as assigned.
