Visa Sponsorship is not available 1.00 FTE- 8 hour shift, 40 hour week 191 work contract- August 3, 2026 to May 28, 2027 SUMMARY: Teaches elemental natural and social science, personal hygiene, music, art, and literature to children from 4 to 6 years old, to promote their physical, mental, and social development by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervises activities such as field visits, group discussions, and dramatic play acting, to stimulate students' interest in and broaden understanding of their physical and social environment.
• Fosters cooperative social behavior through games and group projects to assist children in forming satisfying relationships with other children and adults.
• Encourages students in singing, dancing, rhythmic activities, and in use of art materials, to promote self-expression and appreciation of esthetic experience.
• Instructs children in practices of personal cleanliness and self care.
• Alternates periods of strenuous activity with periods of rest or light activity to avoid over stimulation and fatigue.
• Observes children to detect signs of ill health or emotional disturbance, and to evaluate progress.
• Discusses students' problems and progress with parents.
• Other duties may be assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises classroom, students, instructional assistants and volunteers. • Bachelor of Arts degree.
• Teacher License from the New Mexico Public Education Department.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication.
