About this role
The building-based substitute teacher provides instruction, encourages student progress, and manages the learning environment, enabling each child to pursue his/her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher. - Building-based subs will be used to support each school and serve as substitute teachers. - When not needed as substitutes, they can be used to support teachers with small groups of students or individual students and/or cover teacher duties. - Building-based subs will be granted an automatic interview for any position for which they are certified. - Building-based subs will be paid $160 per day and receive no health benefits. - Building-based subs can voluntarily participate in any PD sessions. - Building-based subs will be considered for any long-term sub position for the 2026-2027 school year. - This is a different position from day-to-day substitute positions.
- Rhode Island Certification. - Relevant credentials. - Relevant successful experience. - Support a vision that reflects an ALL STUDENTS classroom program. - Demonstrate knowledge of subject area. - Ability to know and utilize technology in the teaching and learning process. - Excellent oral and written communication skills. - Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. - Positive attitude. - Successful interview. - Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Screening Committee may find appropriate.
