SECONDARY SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER at Liberty High School JOB DESCRIPTION Liberty High School (LHS) is expanding its secondary educational programs to meet the needs of all students through various pathways in the Saline Area School District. The Liberty High School principal and teaching team provide students with flexible educational opportunities that are of high-quality, data-driven, and can be offered online and in-person. With a dedicated LHS pathway programs team of teachers and district leaders, we collaborate to meet students where they are, strengthen graduation outcomes, and support meaningful re-engagement in learning. The teacher will build and sustain strong, trusting relationships with students, families, and staff, recognizing that students engage, learn, and succeed in different ways. QUALIFICATIONS Required Education/Certification

• Valid Secondary Michigan Teaching Certificate required.

• Social Studies RX or CQ

Required Experience

• A minimum of 3+ years or more of successful teaching experience.

• Working experience with online instruction and technology.

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.

• Demonstrated experience supporting students with embedded Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) practices to optimize academic goals and student success.

• Demonstrated experience teaching or supporting flexible, personalized, virtual, or nontraditional learning pathways for students.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

• Foster and maintain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported.

• Create a student-centered classroom culture that promotes academic excellence while encouraging student voice, engagement, and ownership of learning.

• Collaborate in advancing high-quality instructional practices aligned with the expectations of Liberty High School and the Danielson Framework for Teaching.

• Design and deliver instruction using evidence-based practices that effectively meet the diverse needs of all learners, including students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), Section 504 Plans, and English Learner (EL) programs.

• Implement all Saline Area Schools (SAS) Board policies, administrative procedures, and school expectations consistently and effectively within the classroom and school environment.

• Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including attendance, grades, course completion, behavior, assessments, and other district-required documentation, in accordance with state and federal laws.

• Plan, deliver, and continuously evaluate high-quality instruction within the assigned area of responsibility to maximize student engagement and achievement.

• Regularly assess student progress, provide timely and meaningful feedback, and adjust instructional practices to meet the individual learning needs of all students.

• Participate as an active member of Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams by contributing to the development, implementation, and monitoring of student goals and instructional support.

• Participate in staff meetings, professional learning, school improvement initiatives, collaborative planning, and other district or building committees as appropriate.

• Coordinate virtual coursework through LMS platforms, including supervision of curriculum, course completion, and assessments for both Liberty High School and Flex students.

• Analyze student performance and progress data to inform instructional decisions, monitor growth, and improve student outcomes.

• Comply with all district health, safety, and security policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe learning and working environment.

• Cultivate positive, collaborative relationships with students, families, colleagues, and administrators through open, respectful, and effective communication that supports student success.

• Performs other tasks as assigned by the Director of Student Experiences and Pathways.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Demonstrate regular attendance, punctuality, and dependability in fulfilling all assigned responsibilities.

• Plan and deliver high-quality instruction that meets the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students within the assigned area of responsibility.

• Effectively utilize district technology resources, computer network systems, and instructional software to support teaching, learning, communication, and student achievement.

• Communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, colleagues, and administrators through respectful verbal and written communication.

• Prioritize, organize, and manage multiple responsibilities while meeting established deadlines and adapting to changing priorities.

• Engage in continuous professional reflection and self-evaluation to enhance instructional effectiveness, leadership, and professional growth.

• Maintain organized lesson plans, accurate student records, effective classroom routines, and efficient time-management practices that align with district and school expectations and maximize instructional effectiveness.

• Provide appropriate supervision of students while maintaining a safe, orderly, inclusive, and emotionally supportive learning environment.

• Effectively manage and maintain instructional resources, technology, equipment, and classroom materials to support student learning and responsible stewardship of district resources.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS Work in standard office and school building environments requiring mobility, visual and auditory acuity, communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, adaptability, technology proficiency, physical stamina, and environmental awareness. WORK SCHEDULE As indicated by the SEA and building schedule of assignment SALARY

• Salary according to the SEA contract

• Additional compensation for leading extracurricular activities/events per the SEA Schedule B Article
