About this role

East Windsor Public Schools is seeking dependable, flexible, and student-centered individuals to serve as Building Substitute Teachers. This is an excellent opportunity for educators who enjoy working with students, supporting school staff, and becoming an integral part of a school community. Unlike day-to-day substitute assignments, Building Substitutes report to the same school each day and provide instructional support wherever needed. This position offers consistency, variety, and the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with students and staff. Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide classroom instruction in the absence of the regular teacher using lesson plans provided.

• Maintain a positive, safe, and productive learning environment.

• Supervise students throughout the school day, including classrooms, hallways, lunch, recess, and dismissal as assigned.

• Adapt quickly to different grade levels and subject areas.

• Follow school and district policies, procedures, and emergency protocols.

• Communicate professionally with school administrators and staff.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required.

• Valid Connecticut teaching certification preferred but not required (depending on district and state substitute requirements).

• Eligible for a Connecticut Substitute Authorization, if applicable.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students and staff.

• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.

• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

• Successful completion of all required background checks.

• Previous classroom or substitute teaching experience.

• Experience working with students of varying ages and learning needs.

• Ability to use educational technology and instructional platforms.

Work Environment:

• Often work indoors, moving between classrooms and other school areas

• May work outdoors during physical education and recess.

• May be exposed to noise levels that are distracting

• Work near others, often within a few feet

• Work related tasks may be subject to deadlines and time constraints

Physical Demands:*

• Must possess the ability to stand, sit, and walk unassisted and provide movement assistance to students as needed

• Must possess the ability to lower self to a seated position on floors, and to move from a seated position on floor to standing position unassisted

• Must possess normal visual acuity, with or without corrective lenses, and depth perception

• 180 days, follows the School Calendar

Work Scheduled:

• Hours vary depending on school location; BBES 8:45-3:45; EWMS 7:55-3; EWHS 7:15-2:15

Compensation & Benefits:

• Competitive daily rate of $175.00 per day
