The State College Area School District is looking for a Physical Plant Maintenance Supervisor to provide students, staff, and other building occupants with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient educational environment. The Physical Plant Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all district facilities, mechanical systems, and building operations remain in safe, reliable working order. This role oversees daily maintenance activities, coordinates building needs, and maintains compliance with regulatory requirements. The Supervisor manages work orders, preventative maintenance schedules, inspections, logs, reports, and budget-related documentation in alignment with district policies and state or federal regulations. This position provides technical guidance and direction to maintenance staff, including prioritizing tasks, coordinating workflow, and adjusting assignments in response to building activities, staff shortages, or emergencies. The Supervisor reviews and approves payroll records and overtime, maintains inventory and procurement for necessary materials, and works closely with building administrators to minimize disruption to instruction and student activities. The role also supports district security planning and oversees locksmith operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong diagnostic and repair skills across a wide range of systems, including commercial kitchen equipment, HVAC units, boilers, pumps, plumbing fixtures, water and sewer systems, burners, compressors, pool systems, unit ventilators, digital and pneumatic controls, motors, lighting, electrical panels, fire alarms, and related infrastructure. A commitment to safe working conditions, clear communication, and high quality service is essential. Supervisory experience and broad mechanical aptitude are strongly preferred.
