About this role
IRVING INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT BUSINESS SYSTEMS ANALYST - ERP SYSTEMS JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Business Systems Analyst - ERP Systems WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt FUNDING SOURCE: Local REPORTS TO: Director of Information Systems DEPARTMENT: Information Systems and Servers DATE REVISED: 7/22/2026 PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Business Systems Analyst - ERP Systems makes the District's applications work for the people who depend on them: learning how a department operates, asking the right questions, and turning the answer into a configured, tested, well-documented system. The deep specialty is the District's Tyler Enterprise ERP (Munis) platform and the human resources, payroll, and finance business processes that run on it: the configuration, workflow business rules, security, queries, reporting, and standard data imports and exports that keep those processes moving. Munis is largely packaged (out-of-the-box) software, so the value of this role is understanding what the system can do and configuring it well to fit the District's processes, not writing it from scratch. This is also a generalist analyst who can step into any District system (student, HR, or finance), learn it quickly, and give users and owners a clear answer. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Education/Certification:
• A bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, Business Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience and a track record of delivering student or business solutions.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
• Proficiency administering a packaged ERP application (user, role, and security provisioning; workflow business rules; code and table configuration; output/printer setup; and standard data import/export configurations).
• Strong SQL and relational database knowledge, including the ability to read an application's database schema.
• Report and dashboard development against business data.
• Command of the software development lifecycle and business-analysis methodology: requirements elicitation, current-state/future-state process mapping, SDLC, QA/UAT, and change-and-release management.
• Adaptability: ramps on unfamiliar systems fast and translates fluently between business needs and technical solutions.
• Strong project-management, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with clear written and verbal communication and the persistence to deliver under deadline and pressure.
• Working knowledge of student, staff, and financial data privacy and security, and of segregation-of-duties and internal controls in payroll and accounts payable.
• Effective and responsible use of AI: Uses District-approved AI tools to raise the quality and speed of work, keeps protected data out of non-approved tools, verifies output before relying on it, and retains personal accountability for results.
• Preferred: Experience in a K-12 district or other public-sector organization, and with public-sector HR, payroll, and finance business processes (position control, salary schedules, TRS, stipends, fiscal year-end, purchasing, accounts payable, and grants/projects).
• Preferred: Hands-on Tyler Enterprise ERP (Munis) and Tyler Content Manager (TCM) experience.
• Preferred: Familiarity with the District's application stack (e.g., UKG Ready, eSchoolPlus, Tyler Hub, Power BI, TSDS/PEIMS, Laserfiche) and reporting and analytics tooling (SSRS, Python, DAX).
• Preferred: Experience with statutory reporting that draws on the ERP (state financial/PEIMS finance, TRS, and ACA).
Minimum Experience:
• 3–5 years analyzing, configuring, supporting, and testing software backed by a relational database, ideally on a team in an Information Systems department.
• A minimum of two (2) years supporting or implementing a packaged ERP or HR/finance system (Tyler Enterprise ERP / Munis preferred), including configuration, security/role administration, and upgrade testing.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Essential Functions, organized by key accountability. The employee must be able to perform each of the following, with or without reasonable accommodation. Works independently under the general direction of the Director of Information Systems, exercising discretion and independent judgment on matters of significance without day-to-day technical oversight. ERP (Munis) Application Administration Outcome: the ERP application stays healthy, secure, correctly configured, properly licensed, and reliable for HR, payroll, and finance.
• Serve as the primary administrator of the Tyler Enterprise ERP (Munis) application: user accounts, roles and permission sets, security and least-privilege access across HR, payroll, and finance modules, output and printer assignments, and code and table configuration.
• Configure and maintain workflow business rules, approvals, and notifications within the ERP.
• Coordinate and test ERP and Tyler Content Manager (TCM) version upgrades, patches, and releases with functional departments, documenting issues and validating application function afterward.
Configuration, Business Process Analysis & Solution Delivery Outcome: the ERP is configured to fit the District's real HR, payroll, and finance processes.
• Configure the packaged application to fit District business processes.
• Collaborate with HR, Payroll, Finance, Purchasing, and Accounts Payable to analyze current processes, gather and clarify requirements, and translate them into ERP configuration (workflow rules, approvals, code setup, and module options).
• Produce and maintain requirements and design documentation: business and functional requirements, as-is/to-be process maps, and configuration specifications.
• Develop and execute test plans, perform end-to-end functional testing, coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) with business owners, and run regression testing after upgrades or configuration changes.
• Manage change and release for ERP configuration: promote changes through production, train, and test under change control, with documented and reversible deployments.
• Support recurring business-cycle processes in the ERP, including calendars, salary tables and salary rolls, stipend imports, position control, fiscal year-end, and backup support for accounts payable and payroll check runs.
• Set up and run the ERP's standard, built-in data imports and exports, including time and attendance (UKG Ready), banking/ACH, benefits, TRS, and state financial reporting.
• Maintain an intake and backlog of configuration and enhancement requests; prioritize, scope, and communicate status to requesting departments and the Director.
Reporting & Data Analysis Outcome: users and leaders get accurate answers from ERP data.
• Write SQL queries against the ERP database and read its schema, including how tables and fields map to the screens and functions users see.
• Develop and maintain reports and dashboards using tools such as Tyler Hub, SSRS, and Power BI.
• Extract, reconcile, and validate HR, payroll, and finance data for operational reporting, audits, and statutory submissions.
• Serve as a generalist analyst across District applications (including student, HR, and finance systems) by rapidly learning unfamiliar systems, asking the right questions, and providing answers and solutions.
• Analyze and implement ERP changes driven by statutory updates (for example, payroll tax, TRS, ACA, and state finance reporting) or user needs, reading and interpreting State and Federal law to recommend what is required.
Support, Security & Compliance Outcome: issues get resolved, data stays protected and compliant, and supported systems keep running through critical business cycles.
• Triage user-reported defects and requests; define requirements; log and manage Tyler and TCM vendor cases; and test and implement solutions.
• Handle student, staff, financial, and District data in accordance with FERPA, the Texas Public Information Act, the Texas Student Privacy Act (Texas Education Code §32.151), and District cybersecurity policy (SB 820 / HB 3834); apply least-privilege access; and support technology audits, financial audits, and vendor data-privacy and security reviews.
• Support segregation-of-duties and internal controls in HR, purchasing, payroll, and accounts-payable processes.
• Respond to high-priority and critical incidents for supported systems, including working extended or off-hours around payroll check runs and fiscal year-end, and being called in as needed.
Documentation & Training Outcome: the people who use the supported ERP modules understand them, and the work is well-documented.
• Provide end-user training on supported ERP modules and processes, and maintain documentation on application processes, configuration, and procedures.
General Expectations (expected of all employees in this role; not position-defining essential functions)
• Communicate regularly with supervisor and co-workers, and demonstrate and support positive customer service relationships.
• Participate in training and continuously update knowledge and skills through self-study and professional development.
• Operate and implement within District IT, cybersecurity, data-governance, and solution-architecture policies, standards, and controls.
• Apply responsible and proficient use of AI tools (see Qualifications) in analysis, configuration, documentation, and support work.
Marginal Functions (peripheral; may be reassigned without changing the fundamental nature of the position)
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Environment and Schedule: On-site position at District facilities; no remote or work-from-home arrangement. Occasional travel between District sites. Occasional prolonged or irregular hours, including availability to remotely troubleshoot and resolve problems during off-hours, to work around payroll check runs and fiscal year-end, and to respond to high-priority or critical incidents.
