About this role
To develop and enhance the wildlife corridor between Royal Oak Bridge, Bagenalstown and Milford along the Barrow Track and to develop the track into a more user friendly walking facility. To make and erect nesting boxes for a wide variety of birds e.g Blackbirds, Thrushes, Robins, Wagtails, Tits, Wrens, Owls (advice from wildlife officer). Make and erect bat boxes. Engage the help of a local artist to create appropriate information boards regarding Flora and Fauna and to erect same. Also to create and erect information boards regarding rare wildlife species occasionally seen in the area e.g Buzzard, Jay, Egret, Water Rail Otter, Kingfisher, Dipper. To create suitable habitat for insects, butterflies etc. Feed the ducks and swans as appropriate. To liaise with local fishing club, gun club, birdwatchers, canoe club for information and advice. To re-erect the Sli na Slainte signs. To make the track more suitable for walking by mowing a section one metre wide from Royal Oak bridge to Milford a distance of 10 kilometres approximately.
