About this role

Ballymore Organic is pleased to support this WPEP placement opportunity, providing valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic organic farming and food production environment. The participant will develop valuable workplace skills, confidence, and an understanding of sustainable work practices through training and mentoring in the following activities: • Assisting experienced staff with a variety of grounds maintenance and general operative tasks. • Preparing work areas for daily tasks. • Maintaining clean, safe, and organised work environments. • Assisting with the movement, storage, and organisation of materials and equipment. • Using basic gardening hand tools safely and appropriately under supervision. • Following workplace health and safety procedures. • Understanding routine grounds maintenance activities. • Working as part of a team and following instructions. • Developing workplace communication skills. • Improving time management and organisational skills. • Developing environmental awareness and sustainable work practices. • Interacting professionally with colleagues and members of the public where appropriate. • Maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organised manner. • Recording completed tasks and following work schedules. • Understanding the importance of quality standards and attention to detail.. This is a training and work experience opportunity; no prior experience in this role is necessary. Accredited and/or sector recognised training will be provided to support your placement. Participants are eligible to participate in the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module which was developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection. This optional module will fulfil your accredited training requirements for the WPEP. The participant will receive structured training in: Formal Training Provided • Workplace Health and Safety Awareness. • Manual Handling. • Fire Safety and Emergency Procedures. • Safe Use of Hand Tools. • Environmental Awareness and Sustainability Practices. • Workplace Communication Skills. • Customer Service Fundamentals. • Teamwork and Professional Conduct. • Equality, Diversity and Dignity at Work. • Time Management and Work Planning. • Basic Risk Assessment Awareness. • Introduction to Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance Principles. Informal Training and Mentoring The participant will receive ongoing on-the-job learning through: • Shadowing experienced staff members. • Daily task demonstrations by supervisors. • Guided participation in grounds maintenance activities. • Coaching on safe working practices. • Practical experience maintaining outdoor spaces. • Regular feedback and progress discussions. • Learning workplace routines and procedures. • Exposure to equipment care, maintenance, and storage procedures. • Participation in team meetings and work planning discussions. • Problem-solving and decision-making support from supervisors. • Development of professional communication skills through day-to-day interactions. • Observation of customer interactions and service delivery. • Opportunities to build confidence, employability, and workplace readiness skills.
