Are you passionate about improving patient safety and driving high standards of care? We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and driven Patient Safety Manager to join our team and lead on initiatives that place patient safety at the heart of everything we do.
The Patient Safety Manager will play a key role in embedding a culture of continuous learning and improvement across the organisation.
We are looking for a dynamic and resilient clinical individual with:
Experience in patient safety, risk management, or quality improvement within a healthcare setting. Strong leadership, influencing, and communication skills. Knowledge of relevant NHS frameworks, policies, and safety standards. The ability to analyse complex data, identify themes, and drive meaningful change. A commitment to improving outcomes and experiences for patients. Role 1 - Full Time, 37.5 hours per week - Permanent
Role 2 - Part Time, 30 hours per week - Fixed Term/Secondment until 25th June 2027
Main duties of the job
Working closely with clinical and non-clinical teams, you will:
Lead on the delivery of the NHS Patient Safety Strategy, the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework and associated national and local frameworks. Support and oversee incident investigations, ensuring learning is identified and shared. Provide expert advice on patient safety, risk management, and compliance with national guidance and standards. Promote a proactive safety culture, encouraging openness, reporting, and learning from experience. Develop and deliver training to staff on patient safety practices

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Professional Registration (Clinical) with a regulatory body Master's degree or equivalent in healthcare Evidence of ongoing post-registration training and development. Proven experience in relevant field. Patient Safety Level 1 Training
Desirable
Teaching qualification or experience Project Management Qualification HSSIB level 2 or above training (or equivalent)
Experience Essential
Proven experience at a senior level in an NHS organisation. Understanding of the relevant NHS requirements in relation to patient safety and clinical risk management, including the NPSA's Seven Steps to Patient Safety, Safety First and Safer Care programmes. Excellent written, verbal communication, presentation, training. Excellent and proven report writing skills Proven experience at incident investigation
Desirable
Ability to research, develop and implement safety policies Duty of Candour training Experience in a corporate role in an acute hospital.
Knowledge Essential
Awareness of NHS management structure, organisation, strategy & policy Demonstrable knowledge and use of Root Cause Analysis tools and techniques Able to analyse complex information and present in an audience friendly format. IT literate
