We have an exciting opportunity for join our Estates Department at East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) .
We have an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Maintenance Assistant (mechanical/electrical/building) to assist higher skilled grades on new work, maintenance and repairs as required within East Suffolk & North Essex (ESNEFT) properties.
You will be based at Colchester Hospital (travel to other ESNEFT sites will be required as and when required) and requires a highly motivated, dependable and flexible person with good communication and interpersonal skills, who is capable of working to a high standard with minimum supervision.
You will carry out Portable appliance testing on a regular basis.
Main duties of the job
Core Mechanical Responsibilities:o Replace toilet seato Unblock toilets (First Call)o Unblock sinks (First Call)o Replace shower head/hoseo Shower PPM (Head Clean & Temp Check)o Thermostatic Mixing Valve PPM (Strainer & Temp Check)o General Ward Plumbing PPM (Visual)o Clean ventilation grills and mushroom outletso Replace fire extinguisherso Plant Monitoring including the identification and reporting of faults.o Filter Changing
Core Electrical Responsibilities:o Replace lampso Replace fluorescent tubeso Clean light fittings and diffusers o Adjust clockso Portable Appliance Testingo Fire alarm Testingo Nurse call Handset replacements
Core Building Responsibilities:o Remove/replace ceiling tileso Minor vinyl flooring repairso Minor repairs of damaged plasterworko Minor repairs of damaged paintworko Minor repairs of damaged wall tiles and groutingo Re-fix panels in wardso Minor repair of window blindso Minor repair of bedside lockerso Fit paper towel holder/soap dispensero Fit notice boardso Fit coat hookso Fix signso Fix pictureso Painting and decorating

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Relevant NVQ level 2 or experience Good Standard level of Education Previous "in-house" training associated with Building services
Experience Essential
A good general knowledge of maintenance and recording requirements including the use of relevant tools and equipment. IT Literate
Desirable
Demonstrable previous experience of Building Services maintenance.
Knowledge and Skills Essential
To be able to practically demonstrate a good understanding of Building Services maintenance, repair and operation. Demonstrate the ability to undertake unsupervised routine maintenance and repair work. Good communication skills Ability to prioritise and identify urgent actions Driver, holding a valid UK Driving licence.
Desirable
Good fault finding and repair skills.
