Job summary
We have vacancies for a Domestic Assistant, working as follows
Part time evenings. Monday - Friday 4 hours per day between 4pm and 8pm.
Please note this role requires you to have some domestic experience and you must be available to work the hours detailed. You are also required to work flexibly as the role may require you to cover different areas daily.
You will be involved in the cleaning preparation and service of patient areas, including bedded areas, wards, departments, clinics, theatres or any other non occupied areas.
You will be required to undertake a wide range of cleaning and duties associated with maintaining a high standard of cleanliness ensuring that at all time a high quality service provision is offered, maintaining Trust values.

Main duties of the job
Cleaning wards, clinics, theatres and offices to National cleaning standards Including public areas, toilets, bathrooms, staff rooms Completing periodic (Deep cleaning) tasks Duties include mopping, hoovering, damp dusting, tap cleaning amongst other tasks Adhering to infection control policy's and procedures Following on the job training instructions and ensuring compliance of manual handling polices Adhering to all Health & Safety procedures Using cleaning machinery as required as per training Cleaning experience essential for all posts

Job description Job responsibilities
Carry out routine and deep cleaning of clinical and non-clinical areas, including wards, departments, corridors, and patient areas Ensure all areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in line with NHS cleaning specifications and infection prevention standards Clean and disinfect surfaces, fixtures, fittings, and equipment using appropriate cleaning products and methods Maintain patient environments, including bed spaces, bathrooms, and isolation rooms, ensuring dignity and comfort Safely handle and dispose of clinical, domestic, and hazardous waste in accordance with Trust policies Replenish cleaning supplies, consumables, and PPE as required Undertake scheduled cleaning tasks (daily, weekly, periodic) and respond to ad hoc cleaning requests Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or risks promptly to supervisors Follow all infection prevention and control (IPC) procedures, including use of PPE and colour-coded cleaning systems Work as part of a team to meet service delivery standards and deadlines Support outbreak/incident cleaning, including enhanced cleaning during infection control situations Maintain accurate cleaning records and documentation where required Ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies, including safe use of equipment and manual handling procedures Provide a courteous, respectful service to patients, visitors, and staff at all times Adhere to Trust policies, procedures, and values

Ability to carry out a full range of cleaning duties to a high standard Experience of working to cleaning schedules or set tasks Experience of working in an environment where customer care is important
Desirable
Previous experience in a healthcare setting (e.g. hospital, care home) Previous use of cleaning machinery, floor polishing machinery Experience handling clinical or hazardous waste
Skills Essential
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Good attention to detail to ensure areas are cleaned thoroughly Ability to safely handle and dispose of waste (including clinical waste) Basic verbal and listening skills to understand instructions and respond appropriately Ability to follow and understand written instructions, such as cleaning schedules and procedures Ability to communicate clearly and politely with patients, visitors, and staff
Knowledge Essential
A general understanding of why cleanliness in a patient/healthcare environment is important Understanding of health and safety when using cleaning equipment and chemicals Basic understanding of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment Knowledge of colour coding systems Awareness of the importance of infection prevention and control (IPC) within a healthcare environment
