Main duties of the job
What You'll Do
Deliver high-quality, evidence-based chemotherapy nursing care to patients throughout all stages of treatment. Manage a patient caseload, working closely with consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team. Provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients, families and healthcare professionals. Run nurse-led clinics and support diagnostic testing within agreed parameters. Demonstrate advanced clinical skills in intravenous access, venepuncture, management of central venous catheters and chemotherapy delivery. Support the management of treatment complications including anaphylaxis and extravasation. Participate in the 24-hour on-call rota, providing triage and out-of-hours patient support. Ensure accurate care planning, documentation and adherence to clinical governance standards. Mentor and support junior nursing staff, identifying training and development opportunities. Contribute to clinical audits, service improvements, research projects and evidence-based practice. Promote seamless patient care by collaborating with radiographers, outpatient teams, pharmacists and consultants.

NMC Registered Nurse qualification. UKONS SACT Passport, or willingness to complete within three months of appointment. Experience in intravenous drug administration and chemotherapy delivery. Competency in venepuncture, cannulation and management of central venous access devices. Experience working within an oncology or chemotherapy setting. Knowledge of oncology telephone triage and management of neutropenic sepsis. Excellent communication, organisational and decision-making skills. Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively within a multidisciplinary team. Flexibility to support service needs, including shift work and participation in on-call rotas. Experience Essential
Experience of working in a UK Hospital, giving Chemotherapy Experience in intravenous drug administration and chemotherapy delivery. Competency in venepuncture, cannulation and management of central venous access devices.
