Job summary

Cardiff andVale TherapiesServices are looking for an enthusiastic,dynamicand adaptable individual who is passionate about providing clinical excellence. This friendly busy department consists of approximately 60 staff and provides services across Cardiff and the Vale from multiple sites including community clinics, hospitals andpatientsown homes.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

This is an administrative and clericalpostworks closely alongside clinical staff to support the effective delivery of safe, high-quality patient care. The role plays a keypart in enabling clinicians to focus on direct patient contact by providing efficient operational, coordination, and providing reception durites across the Therapies Directorate.

The post holder will act asa central pointof contact within Therapies,demonstratingexcellent customer care skills when dealing with patients, carers, staff, and external partners. Strong digital capability is essential, with the ability to confidently use electronic systems to manage information, processes, and communications.

The role requires flexibility and the ability to work across multiple sites within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, supporting services in a range of settings including community clinics, hospitals, and other care environments. Through close collaboration with clinical teams, this post directly contributes tomaintainingservice quality, patient experience, and operational effectiveness across Therapies.

The post holder will participate in the provision of Administrative and Clerical duties within the Therapies Directorate to provide an efficient and effective service to the Directorate and the University Health Board.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Good general education to include GCSE's in English and Mathematics or equivalent NVQ Level 2/ or previous appropriate experience

Desirable

ECDL Certificate NVQ Qualification (admin based)

Experience Essential

Experience of working in an administrative or office environment using IT packages e.g. Microsoft Office. Experience of working face to face in a reception/ customer service environment.

Desirable

Sufficient A&C experience. Experience of working in a hospital based role or related service within the NHS.

Skills Essential

Proven high standard of organisational and general administrative skills, including accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to deal with patients and other employees in a professional manner

Special Knowledge Essential

Awareness of GDPR/ Data Protection Act and confidentiality

Desirable

Knowledge of waiting list Procedures and patient pathways. Understanding of UHB Policies. Understanding of Medical terminology

Flexible and adaptable to change. Courteous and friendly. Able to cope under pressure and meet deadlines effectively. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Able to multi task Able to communicate with members of the public / other organisations and General Practitioners effectively via the telephone or face to face.
