SUBSTANTIVE ORAL MEDICINE CONSULTANT (5PA Post)

Oxford University Hospitals wish to appointa 5PA Consultant in Oral Medicineto provide specialist secondary and tertiary Oral Medicine services for adults and children.The successful Consultant will be involved in treating the full range of Oral Medicine conditions in the Oral and Maxillofacial, Orthodontic and Restorative Dentistry Unit. Our Consultant-led teams provide services involving the full range of Oral Medicine conditions, multidisciplinary clinics with Oral Medicine which currently include Dermatology and Haematology. The successful candidate would be expected to consider developing links with these or other relevant medical or dental specialities.The post-holder's duties will be primarily at the John Radcliffe,Oxford.It is a condition of the appointment that the post holder will be willing to work in any of the Trust's locations or outreach district general hospital clinics, including theHorton Hospital in Banbury.Each PA is 4-hours, clinics have new or follow up patients; for a 42-week yearpro rata.

The postholder's duties will be primarily at the John Radcliffe Hospital but it is a condition of the appointment that the postholder will be willing to work in any of the Trust's locations.

Clinical The post holder will be expected to:

Provide aconsultant-led specialist Oral Medicine service, ensuring the highest standards of patient care. Treating the full range of Oral Medicine conditions in the Oral and Maxillofacial Unit. Our Consultant-led teams provide services involving the full range of Oral Medicine conditions & multidisciplinaryclinics

Undertakeoutpatient clinics, including both new patient assessments and follow-upappointments.

Participate in clinical and service activities, contributing to thedelivery and continuous improvement of patient outcomesat Trust, local, and nationallevels.

Play an active role in theclinical supervision, training, and educationof:

oDental CoreTrainees

oSpecialtyTrainees

oSpecialtyDentists

oSpecialist Registrars

Contribute to theteaching and supervision of undergraduate medical and dentalstudents

Participate in thetraining and education of postgraduate studentsand wider departmental educational activities.

Lead and contribute toquality improvement initiatives, clinical audit, and clinical governance, including participation in morbidity and mortality meetings.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Full GMC with licence to practice On GDC specialist list in Oral Medicine or within six months of being admitted to the list for trainees currently in a training programme within the UK. Eligible for Full registration with the GMC and on the specialist Register or confirmed CCT date within 6 months of the date of AAC Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Exit Examination (ISFE) in Oral Medicine, or equivalent. Possession of a Certificate of Accreditation or eligibility for a CCST in Oral Medicine, or within six months of interview. Successful completion of an SAC-approved training programme in Oral Medicine, or within 6 months of completion at the time of interview

Desirable

Fellowship in Dental Surgery or membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, or equivalent Fellowship in Dental Surgery or membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, or equivalent (MFDS/ MJDF) Full Registration with the General Medical Council if dually qualified. Other Relevant postgraduate qualifications in Oral Medicine or Medical leadership

Experience Essential

Experience in the multidisciplinary management of Oral Medicine patients including Patients on systemic therapies for oro- mucosal conditions Experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training Experience in supervising undergraduates, dental core trainees, StRs and postgraduates Effective participation in clinical audits/service evaluations/ quality improvement programmes
