Job summary

This is a unique opportunity to work alongside the community and continuity of carer midwifery teams at Birmingham Women's Hospital, covering South Birmingham. We are looking for knowledgeable and passionate professionals, to support women and families throughout their pregnancy and postnatal journey, who meet the criteria for additional and complex needs. Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead the support provided for mothers, babies & families and assist in the co-ordination of care for families with complex needs and safeguarding procedures.

Support may include provision of practical help, arranging accommodation, helping with travel for families, and assisting with liaison with agencies. More complex support may be required such as caring for parents with additional and complex needs, assisting and making complex safe guarding referrals.

The post holder will lead the Right Help, Right Times framework, Early Help Programme and support families in times of challenge and stress and liaise with Health and Social Service providers.

Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS Essential

Foundation degree or equivalent level 5 study Mathematics and English level 2/GCSE grade 4 or equivalent

Desirable

Level 3 counseling course or equivalent, or counselling experience Mentoring or line managers course or experience

PERSONAL SKILLS / ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES Essential

Able to manage own workload and time Ability to work under pressure Team member Prioritise and effectively time manage clinical and other responsibilities Punctual and flexible across hours of work when required Excellent attendance record

KNOWLEDGE & NATURE OF EXPERIENCE Essential

Specialist knowledge and experience working with the families with complex needs Experience working with families in need Knowledge of the Social Services and benefits systems to enable assisting families through benefits applications.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS Essential

Demonstrate an understanding of the practices of equality and inclusion in the delivery of this role Demonstrate alignment with the values and beliefs of the Trust Physical: Hand eye co-ordination required; Must be physically mobile, good health and attendance; able to drive and must be a car owner for attendance of community work; Able to attend families in their own home situation, clinics and hospital situations

Able to make judgements and decisions of straightforward, or a range of situations, complex or highly complex facts or situations and make some analysis
