Job summary
We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic clinician/supervisor with a background in child and adolescent mental health to join our multi-disciplinary Mental Health Support Team (MHST). This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of early intervention mental health services for children and young people aged 518 across educational settings in Westminster and RBKC. You will provide clinical supervision and case management to Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) and other team members delivering evidence-based interventions, while also managing a small caseload of children and young people presenting with mild to moderate emotional and mental health difficulties. Working collaboratively with families, schools, CAMHS and local authority partners, you will use your clinical expertise, CBT skills and knowledge of the CYP-IAPT framework to improve outcomes for children and young people.
We are keen to hear from candidates who have substantial experience working with children, young people and families with mental health needs, along with previous experience providing supervision within a multi-disciplinary mental health team. You will have a strong understanding of child development, psychosocial influences, safeguarding and clinical risk assessment, as well as knowledge of evidence-informed interventions for anxiety, low mood, self-harm and behavioural difficulties.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for managing and providing clinical supervision to Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) delivering low-intensity, evidence-based group and individual interventions for children and young people. Work collaboratively with families, CAMHS, Local Authority partners, and educational settings to support positive mental health outcomes. Manage a small caseload of children and young people with mild to moderate emotional and mental health difficulties, using CBT and CYP-IAPT principles.
Requirements include experience supervising staff, working with children and families with mental health needs, and delivering CBT-informed interventions. Knowledge of evidence-based approaches for anxiety, low mood, self-harm, and behavioural difficulties is essential. Experience using outcome measures, conducting clinical risk assessments, understanding child development and psychosocial factors, working within multidisciplinary teams, providing supervision and case management, and maintaining high standards of safeguarding is required. Ability to consult and collaborate effectively with young people, families, education professionals, and mental health colleagues is essential.
