Basic Requirement for a Security Guard: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting armed patrols to protect personnel and property; responding to alarms or security incidents; and preparing incident reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Major DutiesConduct both internal and external patrols of the hospital, parking lots/garages, ground and providing security service support of outlying clinics.Perform motorized and foot patrols.Ensure incident scenes are preserved for law enforcement investigators and provide written reports of findings based on criminal incidents to the supervisor.Escort patients and staff to their vehicles and within the facility upon request.Control access and egress of personnel (including numerous visitors not employed by the installation) and material entering and leaving restricted areas.
