Job SummaryYou will serve as an ELECTRICIAN LEADER in the Lifting and Handling Department 700, Deputy Lifting and handling Department 701, Crane Maintenance Division 730 of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE Leading a group of subordinates to accomplish daily work-related functions of the electrical trade. Applying a broad knowledge of heavy mobile equipment systems and equipment. Understanding operational theory, check-out procedures and skills to perform heavy mobile equipment mechanic work. Leading journeyman mechanics through instruction and demonstration of proper work methods. Major DutiesYou will coordinate work while assuring proper inter-trade and inter-shop coordination, high levels of quality assurance with timely orderly job completion.You will provide on the job training for workers under your leadership and correct improper electrician works methods.You will ensure safe work practice and good housekeeping while assuring timely tools, equipment, material, and procedure availability.You will plan and execute the sequence of work tasks, utilizing information from blueprints, sketches and work documents.You will maintain close observation of all work operations.You will discuss with other trade leaders and attempt to resolve work problems at the lowest level possible.
