Job SummaryJoin the Indian Health Services as a Medical Supply Technician with the Red Lake Service Unit in Red Lake, MN. Perform sterile processing duties by inspecting, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing medical equipment and supplies to support safe, quality patient care. QualificationsTo qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-05 Specialized Experience Statement: Your resume must demonstrate at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 level in the federal service. Examples of qualifying experience include: Processing, assembling, preparing, sterilizing, storing, and issuing sterile and unsterile medical instruments, supplies, or equipment; operating washer-sterilizer, ultrasonic instrument cleaners, and gas or steam sterilizers, following proper decontamination, sterilization, and storage procedures; using aseptic techniques, and applying basic knowledge of medical/surgical terminology, therapeutic procedures, and human anatomy and physiology. OR: 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation. OR: The combination of education and experience must equal at least 100% to qualify. Applicants qualifying through education or a combination of education and experience must provide copies of their transcripts. GS-06 Specialized Experience Statement: Your resume must demonstrate at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the federal service. Examples of qualifying experience include: Processing, assembling, preparing, sterilizing, storing, and issuing sterile and unsterile medical supplies and equipment; and operating, testing, adjusting, and troubleshooting washer-sterilizer, ultrasonic instrument cleaners, gas or steam sterilizers, and other sterilization equipment, following proper decontamination, sterilization, and storage procedures; using aseptic techniques, and applying basic knowledge of medical/surgical terminology, therapeutic procedures, and human anatomy and physiology; and providing technical guidance or instructions on proper handling and use of sterile processing equipment and supplies. Major DutiesPerform decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable medical equipment, surgical instruments, and medical supplies in accordance with policies and procedures. Operates, monitors, tests, troubleshoots, and maintains sterilization equipment while monitoring quality assurance indicators and maintaining sterilization records. Inspects, assembles, packages, and sterilizes instrument trays and equipment using aseptic techniques, manufacturer instructions, and established infection control standards. Maintains inventory of medical supplies and equipment by stocking, ordering, storing, issuing, and distributing supplies to patient care areas.
