Job SummaryYou will serve as a Engineering Equipment Operator for the Western Montana NWR Complex. The primary purpose of this position is to operate gasoline or diesel powered engineering and construction heavy equipment to complete a variety of Service Projects at various locations.

I can operate heavy equipment to push, pull, pile, and load materials. Operate a variety of heavy equipment and road work machinery including, but not limited to, bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, graders, excavators, motorized brooms, and water/sewer tankers. Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Operation of Motor Vehicles Reliability and Dependability as a Engineer Equipment Operator Work Practices (including keeping things neat, clean, and in order) If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. Major DutiesSome of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Operate a variety of types of heavy equipment to excavate, backfill, grade, or level earth Heavy equipment may include bulldozers, excavators, road graders, skid steers, backhoes, wheeled and tracked loaders, and specialized equipment. Operates motor vehicles including: tractor trailers, truck and trailer combination, stake trucks, and dump trucks which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 32,000 pounds. Performs maintenance on motor vehicles, heavy equipment, and small equipment. Maintain, repair, or construct a variety of infrastructure including but not limited to: fences, water control structures, and buildings. Work includes developing a course of action to manage and complete small to medium, land management and earth moving projects and facility maintenance. Operators oversee job site safety and logistics. Operators must remain constantly alert and operate the equipment and machinery safely and carefully to prevent injuries or damage to self, others, or the equipment. You are required to wear a uniform and comply with the uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. You may be required to travel overnight away from home. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. You are required to complete training, obtain and maintain a government credit card with travel and purchase authority. You must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program. *Additional Requirements located under qualifications*
