Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing patient care in an inpatient Medical/Telemetry Unit; operating or maintaining telemetry and electrocardiogram equipment (ECG). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with a major field of study appropriate to the specialization of the position, such as nursing, OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in courses such as biology, anatomy, physiology, chemistry, medical technology, or physics. Of the 24 semester hours, at least 12 must have been in a field directly related to the specialization of the position as identified in (a). OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Major DutiesProvide continuous ECG rhythm observation while concentrating on observation of patient status through review of ECG strips and recognition of arrhythmias.Provide assistance of a technical, specialized, or support nature to health and medical personnel in supporting the diagnostic or treatment process of patients with cardiac conditions.Recognize problems through continuous EKG monitoring with accurate recognition and documentation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias and interval measurements.Observe and report rhythm changes that may correlate with medications and communicates deviations in baseline rhythms to registered nurse timely.Provide continuous monitoring of cardiac rate, rhythm, and patterns of conduction at a central monitoring station for patients.Maintain clean monitor screen and telemetry monitoring work area to ensure cleanliness and tidiness.Prepare, deliver and actively participate in the unit's educational in-service programs provided to staff and patients.
