SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE One-year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal Service in planning, coordinating, administering, advising, monitoring, and auditing the use of International Classification of Diseases 10th Revision Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM), Diagnosis Related Group (DRG), Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) code assignment to assure all diagnoses and procedures are properly documented through review of medical records. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M Inpatient experience is highly preferred though it's not required
Major DutiesManage the ICD-10-CM, Diagnosis Related Group (DRG), CPT and HCPCS coding and ensures appropriate training is scheduled for the treatment facility and its outlying clinicsAdvise management on recommended methods to achieve compliance with ICD-10-CM, CPT, DRG’s and HCPCS coding requirementsReview coding and billing regulations with coders, providers, and other health care professionals.Develop corrective action plans and follow-up to resolve coding and documentation problemsServe as the facility’s primary resource on ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding trainingCreate presentations and other appropriate training coders and facility personnel with training on all areas of disease and injury diagnoses, acuity of care, and procedures in a wide range of ambulatory/inpatient settings and specialtiesProvide performance feedback to coders and providers.
