To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do the Work of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) To be minimally qualifying you must demonstrate in your resume experience you are able to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision for the Maintenance Worker, WG-4749-7 position with at least two of the following trades: Carpentry - constructs, installs, repairs and replace items such as doors, shelves, etc. Painting - preparing surfaces, determine painting materials to be used and method of application, and painting a variety of surfaces Plumbing - replace various valves, unions, elbows, fixtures, toilets, faucets, and various types of pipe and copper lines, cut and thread pipes, winterize water systems, etc. Roofing- repairs and patching, tar and paper, metal foam roofs and asphalt shingles Electrical - repairs including removing, replacing, tightening, splicing, and insulating defective wiring and fixtures Masonry - maintenance, measures, determines amount of concrete, sets forms, pours and finishes concrete to blueprint standards and project specifications Water Plant Operator - monitoring pumping equipment, regulating water, reading meters gauges and charts, recording readings and preparing reports If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. Major DutiesPerforms a variety of duties within the full spectrum of maintenance activities, including carpentry, painting, cement finishing, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, electrical, masonry, janitorial, groundskeeping, roads, trails, and fence repair. Diagnoses and repairs deficiencies on buildings, structures, equipment, and utilities. Uses common tools to perform a variety of basic repairs and maintenance, plus operates small gas and electric power tools such as sanders, saws, riding and push-type mowers, and snowblowers. Maintains and operates well water distribution systems and septic systems. Operates light trucks and miscellaneous equipment such as tractors and skid steers. Area Information: Pecos National Historical Park is 2 miles south of Pecos, New Mexico on State Highway 63, and 4 miles north of I-25. It's 25 miles east of Santa Fe and 44 miles west of Las Vegas, NM. The park sits at 6900-7400 feet in a pinon/juniper woodland. Annual precipitation is 7-10 inches, with 12-16 inches of winter snowfall. Temperatures average 40°F in winter and 80°F in summer. Pecos offers schools and banks; Las Vegas and Santa Fe have full amenities, colleges, and cultural attractions. You must be at least (1) 18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.
