Job SummaryThis position provides assistance to the health providers in performing clinical assistant procedures and patient care in the outpatient clinic. Position is located within a Service Unit, IHS Hospital, Browning, Poplar, Harlem or Hays, MT. Incumbent reports to the outpatient Supervisory Clinical Nurse. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).

QualificationsTo qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Individual Occupational Requirements Specialized Experience (for positions at GS-4 and above): Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. OR Education and Training For GS-4: Successful completion of 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the position. The following shows the amounts of experience required to qualify for positions covered by this standard. GS-04: 6 months of general experience and 6 months of specialized experience. General Experience: (l) Any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter or processes of the broad subject area of the occupation. Your resume must demonstrate at least 6 months year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Take and record vital signs. Schedule appointments. Adhere to clinic and departmental safety regulations. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Major DutiesTotal Compensation Package - Check out IHS's outstanding total compensation package for this job: Health Technician Total Compensation Clean and stock the unit, clean used instruments and equipment, and dispose of waste materials Process new admissions by taking vital signs, height, weight, and other patient information and recording in patient's record. Report finding to charge nurse or nurse assigned to patient. Assist in emergency situations, including CPR. Obtain and record vital signs on Electronic Health Record. Background Investigation Requirement: This position requires the successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment. A background investigation is a standard process used by the Federal Government to verify an individual's identity, employment history, education, and other relevant information to determine suitability for Federal service. Upon receipt of instructions, applicants must complete all required background investigation forms within five (5) calendar days of issuance. Timely completion is critical to avoid delays in processing or a determination of unsuitability.
