QualificationsOne year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-12) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: analyzing Congressional or legislative reports, authorization/appropriations bills, and constituent or policy issues; or ensuring compliance with privacy requirements and guidance for carrying out congressional relations or legislative relations taskings associated with an organization's program and activities; or researching and reporting on congressional or legislative actions to assist in recommending corrective action or responses. You may qualify for consideration if meeting specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Major DutiesServes as a Congressional and Legislative Liaison responsible for monitoring and advising DFAS leadership and subject matter experts on congressional items of interest, such as pay, budget, audit readiness, and financial management oversight issues.Researches, analyzes, and develops information on congressional activities and legislative actions of considerable scope, complexity, and importance to DFAS.Develops and maintains DFAS-wide plans, policies, and procedures for the Congressional and Legislative Liaison Program. Identifies procedural framework for initiation, coordination, and submission of items to DFAS Leadership.Researches legislative AuR issues and disseminates information to functional experts. Serves as the communication lead for the DFAS Senior Steering Committee. Develops AuR communications for the Services and other Defense Agency customers.Maintains broad knowledge of the roles and missions across the organization to facilitate responding to requests from Members of Congress and the defense oversight committees.
