Job SummaryThis job opportunity is for an ALLIED TRADES WORKER, position description D1220000, within the CSMS-1 of the New Jersey National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. The primary purpose of this position is to assist higher graded workers in performing work in the skilled trades' occupations in support of maintenance functions.
QualificationsGeneral Experience: Must have the following experiences: Demonstrating knowledge of equipment Preventative maintenance tasks Using common tools and equipment Specialized Experience: Must have 12 months of the following experiences: Using common hand and power tools Using testing and measurement devices Removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components, and accessories Applying mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory to vehicles Replacing, fitting, installing, and making adjustments Understanding of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems Reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics
Major DutiesAs an ALLIED TRADES WORKER, WG-5801-8, you will: Operate various welding equipment Modify, repair and make canvas parts Repairs mobile equipment metal body components such as fenders, panels, hooks, truck beds. Remove and replace wood type trailer decking Prepare surfaces by sanding and wire brushing Perform other Duties as AssignedRequirementsCompatible military grade and assignment required prior to the effective date of placement. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership. Areas of Consideration: CAT 3 ALL NJ ARNG MEMBERS All New Jersey Army National Guard members (M-Day, Traditional, Active Guard Reserve, and Drill-Status Guardsmen) Military Grades: E-3 to E-6 Applicant(s) (Enlisted) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade Additional Employment Requirements: Participation in direct deposit is mandatory May be required to successfully complete a probationary period Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Compatible Military Assignments Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a *military unit* compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position. *Military Unit* -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1) Pre-Placement Physical: A pre-placement physical will be required for anyone selected for this position.
