Phlebotomy Technician Schedule: Day Shift. 36 Hours Weekly, Three 12 hour shifts. Saturday, Sunday in the Emergency Department and One 12 hour shift for Inpatient. Rotating holidays and must pick up Two 4 hour on call shifts weekly.

About the Position Medical professionals who work within a clinical laboratory, collecting blood and samples from patients and adequately identifying, labeling, and maintaining their preanalytical integrity prior to laboratory testing.
Overview of Responsibilities
• Properly identifies patient by asking their first and last name and date of birth and comparing to orders provided.
• Follows all proper collection techniques as defined by policy.
• Documents time drawn and identity of collector on all specimens.
• Completes routine blood draws within five minutes.
• Responds promptly to stat orders, obtaining the specimen within 10 minutes of the time or order.
• Collects non-blood specimens following proper protocols.
• Performs inventory of supplies and restocks as necessary.
• Orders tests appropriately.
• Completes maintenance logs as required by policy.
• Centrifuges specimens and processes as necessary based on location worked.
• Utilizes communication devices, including headsets as appropriate.

Education & Experience
• Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
Licensure & Certification
• Phlebotomy Certification Preferred
