About this role
Job Description: The HR Generalist - Service Delivery is part of POLITICO North America's HR Business Partner team and reports to the Global HR Service Delivery (Operations) Manager. This role is designed for an HR operations professional who combines strong customer service, careful execution, and sound judgment to support more than 600 employees, managers, and business leaders.
This role is a critical part of POLITICO's HR Business Partner model. By owning day-to-day employee lifecycle administration, resolving routine employee and manager needs, maintaining accurate HR data, and coordinating key processes, the HR Generalist gives HR Business Partners more time to advise leaders, support organizational priorities, and serve as strategic partners to the business. The role will also provide operational support to other HR teams as needed and help improve service delivery through practical use of technology, automation, and approved AI tools.
What You'll Do: Employee Service and Lifecycle Operations
• Serve as a reliable point of contact for employees, managers, and HR partners, taking requests through resolution and escalating when needed.
• Manage onboarding, employee data changes, internal moves, employment documentation, leave administration, and offboarding.
• Provide day-to-day operational support to HR Business Partners, including preparing documentation, coordinating follow-up, and handling recurring administrative work.
• Coordinate with Payroll, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners, IT, Finance, Legal, Facilities, and other teams to support smooth employee transitions.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential employee records and documentation across HR systems.
Data Quality and Operational Controls
• Perform routine audits and reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and correct or escalate issues as appropriate.
• Track deadlines, handoffs, and dependencies to reduce delays and prevent service breakdowns.
• Maintain procedures, checklists, validation steps, and audit-ready documentation for assigned processes.
• Support reporting on service volume, response time, accuracy, recurring inquiries, and other operational measures.
Process Improvement and Technology
• Document current workflows and identify work that can be simplified, standardized, or automated.
• Create and improve templates, guides, self-service resources, and practical technology-enabled solutions.
• Use HR systems, spreadsheets, case management tools, and reporting platforms to complete work and support testing or system changes.
• Use approved AI tools responsibly to support drafting, research, analysis, and knowledge management, with appropriate safeguards for privacy, confidentiality, accuracy, and human review.
Communication and Cross-Functional Support
• Draft clear employee communications, process guidance, frequently asked questions, and knowledge resources.
• Explain HR policies and processes in practical terms that employees and managers can understand and use.
• Support cross-functional projects and change rollouts through task management, testing, documentation, and stakeholder follow-up.
• Build productive relationships, communicate progress and risks clearly, and contribute to a consistent, high-quality employee and manager experience.
What You'll Need:
• 4-8 years of experience in HR operations, HR service delivery, or a broad HR generalist role.
• Hands-on experience supporting employee lifecycle processes, including onboarding, employee changes, leave administration, records management, and offboarding.
• Experience entering, reviewing, and auditing employee data in an HRIS (preferably Workday) or similar business system; strong working knowledge of spreadsheets and reports.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a professional and service-oriented approach when working with employees and stakeholders.
• Excellent organization, follow-through, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and protect confidential information.
• Sound judgment, curiosity, and the ability to learn quickly, solve routine problems, and recognize when escalation is needed.

About Us. POLITICO illuminates the forces shaping global power. Since 2007, we have delivered intelligence that anticipates tomorrow's headlines, not reports on yesterday's news. As politics has increasingly become the defining force of our era, our work has never been more vital.
Cabinet secretaries and Ministers start their mornings with our analysis. CEOs shape strategy around our reporting. Advocacy leaders rely on our insights to move policy. We deliver the straightforward facts and clear-eyed analysis they need to navigate the most complex political landscape of our lifetimes.
Our 1,100+ publishing professionals across the world's key democratic capitals—Washington, Brussels, London, Paris, Berlin, Sacramento, and New York—form the world's premier politics and policy newsroom. We tell the story of how power really works by explaining who wields it and how they plan to exercise it, connecting dots others miss and delivering scoops from sources others don't even know exist.
Innovation has always been a core tenet of our story. At launch, we bet that depth would trump scale, that talent would trump traffic, and that politics would become central to modern life. In 2011, we made another bet and launched POLITICO Pro to help decision-makers understand the business of government, transforming both how they shape government action and the business of journalism itself.
These bets have made POLITICO the most successful digital news startup of its generation and the indispensable resource for leaders who shape the future. Today, we are a rarity in media: a growing, profitable, and sustainable news organization.
POLITICO is a subsidiary of Axel Springer SE, a family-owned transatlantic media company headquartered in Berlin and New York.
