Position : Senior Lead, Automation – Observability Platforms Role Overview We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Automation Engineer to drive automation, self-service, and platform engineering initiatives across the enterprise Observability ecosystem. This is a hands-on Individual Contributor role responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions that improve the scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency of observability platforms including Dynatrace, SCOM, OpenTelemetry, ServiceNow ITOM Event Management and associated monitoring technologies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong software engineering and automation mindset with experience in platform integrations, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), API-driven solutions, DevOps practices, and observability automation. The role will focus on eliminating manual effort, accelerating onboarding, improving monitoring consistency, and enabling Observability-as-Code across the enterprise. This aligns with the reference document's emphasis on automation, API-driven onboarding, observability-as-code, CI/CD integration, and scalable monitoring practices.
Key Responsibilities Automation Engineering
• Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions for enterprise observability platforms. • Build self-service capabilities for application onboarding, monitoring configuration, dashboard provisioning, and alert setup. • Develop reusable automation frameworks and workflows to standardize monitoring deployment across applications and infrastructure. • Drive adoption of Observability-as-Code practices across Dynatrace, SCOM, and ServiceNow ITOM & Event Management. • Create automated provisioning and configuration solutions using APIs, infrastructure-as-code, and configuration management tools. Platform Integration & Engineering
• Develop integrations between Dynatrace, SCOM, ServiceNow, CMDB, Azure DevOps, GitHub, cloud platforms, and enterprise tooling. • Build automated event enrichment, correlation, routing, and remediation workflows. • Design automation for monitoring onboarding, tagging, management zone creation, alert creation, and dashboard generation. • Automate health checks, compliance validations, monitoring coverage assessments, and operational reporting. • Support platform modernization initiatives through API-first engineering approaches. DevOps & CI/CD
• Integrate observability automation into CI/CD pipelines. • Develop deployment pipelines for monitoring configurations, dashboards, synthetic monitors, and alerting policies. • Implement version control and code promotion strategies for monitoring assets. • Support GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines, and other automation platforms. AI & Advanced Automation
• Develop automation leveraging Dynatrace Davis AI and ServiceNow capabilities. • Create automated incident enrichment and response workflows. • Implement automated root cause data collection and operational insights generation. • Support AI-assisted observability and predictive monitoring initiatives. Operational Excellence
• Identify manual operational activities suitable for automation. • Improve platform scalability through engineering-driven solutions. • Reduce onboarding effort and operational overhead through automation. • Contribute to enterprise standards, coding frameworks, documentation, and automation governance. • Create reusable runbooks and knowledge assets to improve operational consistency.
Required Technical Skills Observability Platforms
• Strong hands-on experience with: • Dynatrace APIs, Configuration API, Metrics API, Environment API • Dynatrace OneAgent deployment automation • Dynatrace dashboard and alert automation • ServiceNow Event Management integrations • Microsoft SCOM administration and automation • OpenTelemetry concepts and telemetry pipelines
Programming & Scripting
• Advanced proficiency in: • Python • PowerShell • Shell/Bash scripting • REST APIs • JSON/XML/YAML
Infrastructure as Code & Automation
• Experience with: • Terraform • Ansible • GitHub Actions • Azure DevOps Pipelines • CI/CD automation frameworks
Development & Integration
• API development and integration expertise • Webhook-based integrations • Source control management (Git/GitHub) • ServiceNow REST/SOAP integrations • Automation framework development Cloud & Platform Technologies
• Azure and/or AWS • Windows and Linux platforms • Container technologies and Kubernetes (preferred) • Enterprise infrastructure and application monitoring concepts
Desired Experience
• 12+ years of IT experience. • 5+ years focused on automation engineering, platform engineering, or DevOps. • Experience building enterprise-scale automation solutions. • Experience supporting large observability environments. • Experience working with financial services or highly regulated industries. • Strong understanding of monitoring architectures and observability best practices. • Experience developing reusable engineering products and automation libraries.
Preferred Certifications
• Dynatrace Associate or Professional Certification. • Terraform Associate Certification. • Microsoft Azure Certification. • ServiceNow ITOM Certification. • GitHub Foundations / GitHub Administration Certification. • ITIL Foundation Certification.
