Overview:
• The Executive Assistant to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) provides high-level, proactive, and highly confidential administrative support to the CHRO and Human Resources leadership team. This role serves as a trusted partner, managing complex executive priorities, facilitating communication across the organization, and ensuring the efficient operation of the Human Resources function. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, exercises exceptional judgment and discretion, and regularly interacts with senior executives, board-level stakeholders, and key business leaders.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Serve as a strategic liaison between the CHRO, executive leadership, business partners, and external stakeholders, responding to inquiries and facilitating communication on sensitive and enterprise-wide Human Resources matters. • Manage and maintain the CHRO’s complex business calendar, exercising sound judgment in prioritizing requests, resolving scheduling conflicts, and coordinating meetings across multiple stakeholders and time zones. • Coordinate all travel arrangements and prepare detailed itineraries, briefing materials, and supporting documentation for meetings, events, and executive engagements. • Support the CHRO and HR leadership team with project-oriented assignments, including conducting research, gathering and analyzing information, preparing reports, and presenting findings and recommendations. • Draft, edit, and manage non-routine correspondence, communications, presentations, and other executive-level materials on behalf of the CHRO. • Perform complex administrative and project management responsibilities that enable the CHRO to focus on strategic priorities while ensuring the smooth operation of the Human Resources function. • Prepare and coordinate executive presentations, leadership meeting materials, agendas, minutes, and follow-up action items. • Organize and support talent reviews, leadership meetings, employee engagement initiatives, board materials, and other critical HR processes. • Maintain confidential personnel, compensation, organizational, and business information with the highest level of discretion and professionalism. • Process and maintain executive expense reports, department invoices, disbursements, and budget-related documentation as required. • Build and maintain strong working relationships across all levels of the organization while demonstrating professionalism and excellent customer service. • Ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, operational risk controls, and regulatory requirements. • Promote an inclusive work environment that supports diversity, equity, and inclusion and reflects the M&T Bank brand. • Maintain internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit recommendations and resolution of issues identified by regulators, as applicable. • Complete additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
• Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible administrative support experience, including direct support of C-suite executives or senior leadership. • Demonstrated experience supporting executives in a complex, fast-paced corporate environment. • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams. • Strong organizational, project management, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. • Proven ability to exercise discretion, maintain strict confidentiality, and use sound independent judgment. • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive, service-oriented mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree. • Experience supporting a Chief Human Resources Officer or senior Human Resources leader. • Experience coordinating executive-level meetings, board materials, and enterprise-wide initiatives. • Familiarity with HR processes, organizational planning, talent management, or employee-related programs. • Experience working within a highly regulated industry or large corporate environment.
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $54,100.00 - $90,100.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
