Lead Software Engineer (Connex)

Overview We are seeking a talented Lead Connex Software Development Engineer to join our engineering organisation supporting UK Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) payment products, based in Pune. This role operates within a globally distributed delivery model, partnering closely with established onshore teams to deliver and maintain high-availability, mission-critical systems. The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing evolution and stability of key payment platforms within a scaled Agile (SAFe) environment.

Role The Software Engineer will be responsible for: • Agile Delivery (SAFe Framework) Working within an established Scrum team aligned to SAFe, contributing to sprint planning, execution, and continuous improvement initiatives. • Distributed Team Collaboration Collaborating closely with onshore engineering teams to deliver features, resolve defects, and ensure seamless integration across the delivery lifecycle. • Application Development & Maintenance Designing, developing, and maintaining solutions across a multi-technology stack. • Production Support & Reliability Supporting critical live systems, ensuring performance, resilience, and adherence to enterprise standards and controls. • Continuous Improvement Contributing to engineering best practices, automation, and process enhancements to improve delivery efficiency and quality.

All About You We are looking for a technically strong and collaborative Software Engineer who thrives in a complex, enterprise-scale environment. Key requirements include: • Highly experienced in Connex on HP NonStop development background. • Understanding of financial industry hardware such as HSM’s HP Nonstop and related standards and security requirements including PCI and OWASP. • Understanding of online payment transaction processing. • Experience of TCP/IP and communication protocols. • Strong knowledge of TAL, COBOL, SCOBOL and TACL • Knowledge of HP Non-Stop protocols, security and utilities • Strong understanding of financial industry protocols including ISO8583, ISO20022, LIS5, VISA, MasterCard or ATM message protocols. • Knowledge of some of GoldenGate, Electronic File Transfers, Java, UNIX, Spring, Hibernate, XML. • Proven development experiences a solid background as a developer across various platforms. • Proven technical testing experience within Agile environments, particularly with BDD methodologies. • Be comfortable with regular demonstrations to stakeholders and comfortable with pair programming. • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team. • Excellent time management and organisational abilities. • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude. • Genuine passion for testing, development, and technology design across diverse full stack platforms. • Demonstrated experience in both functional and non-functional automated testing.

Desirable experience: • Hands-on automation testing expertise using open-source technologies such as Selenium, Cucumber, Gherkin, Spring, etc.
