About this role
The Senior Utility Engineer is the technical lead for the design, engineering, and optimization of industrial utility systems in Mexico and the America region. This role drives complex engineering deliverables, leads design reviews, guides junior engineers, and provides expert technical consultation across projects and operations. The Senior Engineer ensures systems are engineered for reliability, maintainability, safety, and compliance with Mexican and international standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead conceptual, basic, and detailed engineering for complex utility systems including steam/condensate, boilers, chilled water, cooling water, HVAC utilities, compressed air, water treatment, wastewater, fuel gas, nitrogen, and fire protection.
• Develop and approve engineering deliverables: P&IDs, 3D model reviews, line lists, utility load summaries, risk assessments, and equipment sizing calculations.
• Conduct advanced engineering studies: system capacity modeling, redundancy strategies, energy balance optimization, and risk-based design evaluations.
• Define technical criteria for complex modifications, expansions, or greenfield utility systems.
• Act as technical authority during design reviews, vendor meetings, and construction support.
• Mentor junior engineers and review contractor engineering packages.
• Author and approve technical specifications and performance requirements.
• Lead technical bid evaluations, vendor audits, FAT/SAT, and commissioning activities.
• Ensure compliance with NOM, ASME, NFPA, API, ISA, and corporate standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or related Engineering.
• Several years experience in utility engineering and industrial facility design.
• Strong experience with utility calculations, specification development, vendor evaluation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Proven leadership in cross-functional project teams.
• Experience leading medium to large CAPEX utility projects.
• Intermediate–advanced English proficiency.
