About this role

The City of Melville is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced leader to join our Community Services Department as the Recreation & Programming Manager. Reporting to the Director of Community Services, this leadership position is responsible for the overall operation, programming and utilization of the City's recreation facilities, including the CN Community Centre, Merv Moore Sportsplex, outdoor arenas, parks, trails and swimming pool. The successful candidate will lead and support recreation staff, oversee facility operations, scheduling and maintenance, administer budgets and contracts, coordinate community programming and events, work closely with community organizations and volunteers, pursue grant opportunities, and provide strategic leadership to enhance recreation services throughout the community. Qualifications Diploma or degree in Recreation Administration, Recreation & Leisure Services, Recreation & Tourism Management, Kinesiology, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).Minimum of eight years of progressively responsible recreation management experience.Strong leadership, organizational, budgeting and communication skills.Experience supervising staff, managing recreation facilities, developing programs, and working with community organizations and volunteers.Knowledge of recreation operations, parks, public relations, project management and municipal services. Requirements - Valid Class 5 driver's license.- Valid First Aid/CPR/AED certification.- Arena Operator Level 2 certification.- Ability to obtain a Swimming Pool Operator Certificate within six months of employment.- Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
