This is an advanced practice role providing professional, analytical and comprehensive health services to clients/families including, but not limited to, health assessments and diagnoses of diseases, disorders, injuries and conditions; treating and managing acute and chronic illnesses and identifying health risks and needs within a holistic, episodic care model.The NP works independently in an Urgent Care/Emergency environment, conducting rapid assessment and diagnosis on a walk-in basis, which necessitates individual follow-up at times. This is supported by scheduled, weekly administrative time in order to review results and provide additional client care and necessary follow-up via in-person, telephone or virtual visits. The NP will also work collaboratively with other providers and staff at the clinic. The successful applicant will be supported to become proficient in use of virtual care technologies.Job DemandsBy applying for this job, you acknowledge an understanding that regular requirements and demands of this job include (but are not limited to):Constantly moves, lifts, or operates equipment/machinery up to 10 lbs. and regularly is required to lift/move equipment, books, supplies, and sometimes children up to 25 lbs. Occasionally, may have to reposition a client over 50 lbs.Physical effort also includes regular sitting to conduct client histories, performing work on the computer and when assessing clients, regularly stands or walks.When performing procedures, regularly uses fine finger/precision work and hand tools (i.e. medical instruments, computer mouse, stethoscope, etc.) requiring accurate control and steadiness.Visual concentration is required when performing physical assessment and procedures, completing charts/reports, observing clients, reading equipment/monitors, and completing work-related correspondence on the computer.Job QualificationsCompletion of an approved/recognized Nurse Practitioner program is required.Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador as a Nurse Practitioner. A minimum of five years' nursing experience within the last seven years, including two years' experience working as a Nurse Practitioner in Primary Health Care, Emergency Room, Urgent Care or a similar clinic setting providing care to Family/All Ages, is required.Experience with provision of care using virtual platforms is considered an asset.Current BLS Certification is required.Knowledge of urgent care/episodic care model.Demonstrated exceptional critical thinking and clinical judgement skills.Possessed strong abilities in the areas of collaboration, clinical reasoning, professional development, interpersonal effectiveness, conflict management and teamwork.Demonstrated progressive clinical leadership skills.Possessed strong communication, problem solving, decision-making, an
