As part of a joint project with the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services and regional health centres (UTHC and IHC), the Strategic Advisor, Communications and Community Engagement, will help the Canadian Red Cross, Quebec Division, strengthen tuberculosis prevention and response efforts in Nunavik. The role integrates Communications with Community Engagement and Accountability (CEA) functions. The successful candidate will report to the Quebec Community Relations team, while maintaining a close working relationship with the Quebec and Francophonie Communications team. They will work closely with the response to tuberculosis in Nunavik project team, and within the operational framework set out by the Emergency Health Department. They will also collaborate with local stakeholders, including community members, health personnel, and others, to support the development of clear and culturally appropriate communication and engagement approaches aligned with local realities. In this role, you will: 1. Communications Strategy, Messaging, and Content (50%) Collaborate on the development and implementation of communications strategies aligned with project priorities. Design and tailor clear, culturally appropriate messages. Develop approaches that promote understanding of health-related information and informed decision-making in collaboration with Emergency Health content experts. Create communications materials for communities, donors, partners, the media, and the Canadian Red Cross, including stories, social media content, audiovisual materials, and information notes. Collect and share community stories. Coordinate media relations and support spokespersons. Enhance social media engagement and monitor trends and rumours. Monitor the information landscape and identify emerging issues. 2. Community Engagement and Accountability (50%) Provide expert advisory support and help develop community engagement and accountability strategies. Maintain two-way communication using trusted, culturally appropriate channels and strategies tailored to different groups. Promote the inclusion of communities in all phases of the project. Support the implementation and monitoring of community feedback mechanisms. Contribute to initiatives aimed at countering misinformation and supporting informed decision-making. Collaborate with healthcare professionals and the project team to ensure that communication and engagement approaches accurately reflect technical guidance while remaining clear, accessible, and culturally appropriate. 3. Partnerships and Field Operations Help establish and maintain trust-based relationships with community leaders and key partners. Represent the Canadian Red Cross in communities. Collaborate with the Quebec Division's Emergency Health team, coordinating community engagement and communications initiatives with Regional Board, Inuulitsivik Health Centre, and Canadian Red Cross teams.
