Job summary

ELM Alliance Ltd is looking for an experienced finance professional to lead our finance function during an exciting period of organisational development.

Supporting NHS services across Teesside, ELM delivers a diverse portfolio of healthcare contracts and is committed to providing high-quality, sustainable services for our patients and partners.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this newly developed leadership role offers the opportunity to shape and strengthen the organisations financial management while supporting strategic decision-making across the business.

We are looking for someone who enjoys looking beyond the numbers someone who can provide insight, challenge constructively, improve financial systems and work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure sound financial governance.

As Senior Finance Manager, you will:

Lead the organisations finance function. Produce high-quality monthly management accounts and financial reports. Lead budget setting, forecasting and cash flow management. Provide financial advice and analysis to the Managing Director, Executive Team and Board. Ensure robust financial governance, internal controls and statutory compliance. Oversee payroll and financial processes. Work with external accountants, auditors and NHS stakeholders. Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting and organisational efficiency. Support managers across the organisation to better understand and manage their budgets.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Finance Manager will lead the Finance and Payroll function, providing strategic and operational financial leadership to ensure strong governance, compliance and long-term sustainability. Reporting to the Managing Director, the role is responsible for financial planning, budgeting, cashflow forecasting, financial modelling, management accounts, payroll oversight and statutory reporting. The post holder will maintain accounting systems, oversee financial controls, manage banking, accounts payable and receivable, and support annual audits and statutory accounts. They will provide financial advice and commercial insight to the Executive Team and Board, supporting contract management, tender submissions, business development and organisational decision-making. The role will drive continuous improvement of financial systems and processes, support risk management, monitor organisational performance and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support organisational growth and resilience.

Strategic Financial Leadership

Lead the financial planning of the organisation.Prepare annual budgets and medium-term financial plans.Develop rolling cashflow forecasts.Produce monthly management accounts with commentary and variance analysis.Provide financial modelling for new services, contracts and business opportunities.Support the Executive Team and Board in strategic financial decision making.Identify financial risks and recommend mitigating actions.Contribute to the delivery of the organisations strategic objectives.Financial ManagementMaintain the organisations accounting system (Xero).Ensure accurate financial records are maintained.Oversee payroll currently Sage 50 Payroll and associated financial processes.Manage accounts payable and receivable.Monitor cashflow and banking arrangements.Ensure organisational statutory compliance.Support production of the annual statutory accounts.Liaise with external accountants, auditors and HMRC.Financial Reporting
