Job summary

Due to the retirement of a colleague, we are keen to strengthen our team with an enthusiastic salaried doctor to cover 6 sessions per week who has a particular interest in teaching and supervising medical students.

The successful applicant would be required to work one full day per week with flexibility available for the remaining sessions.

Main duties of the job

The role involves a mix of duties including standard consulting, home visits, debriefing registrar doctors as well as covering half day on-calls. There will be particular emphasis on teaching our Year 4 and 5 Medical students for the practice. The post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely manner.

Situated in the heart of Bradford, we are a dynamic 5 partner surgery with a patient list size of over 9000. Our practice falls within the boundary of West Yorkshire ICB and we are part of the collaborative 5 Lane Ends PCN which consists of 4 other practices.

We are a patient-centric practice with a family orientated approach. We are rated highly for our good access and use reception-led care navigation to good effect. We use e-consults, Accurx, Patchs, ASSIST, and e-referrals to services including community pharmacy and physio-first. We use Ardens decision support software.

Our multidisciplinary team includes 3 other salaried GPs, 2 practice nurses, 3 healthcare assistants, as well as an experienced administrative and reception team. Our ARRs roles include a General Practitioner, Physiotherapist, Social prescribers,

Job description Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the salaried GP. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

The delivery of highly effective medical care to the practice population

The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract

Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

Supporting our highly skilled nurses in effective management of long-term conditions

Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy, and guidance

Working collaboratively, accepting a fair and equal share of the practice workload with the other salaried GPs who we currently employ (but this can be adjusted pro-rata)

Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required

Ensure compliance with the in-house appraisal process

Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

Support the training of medical students

Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure

Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all time

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

This role requires a highly skilled and compassionate medical professional committed to delivering excellent primary care within the NHS framework. Medical Degree: Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS/MBChB) or equivalent medical qualification from a recognised university. GMC Registration: Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a current Licence to Practise. CCT/CEGPR: Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice or Certificate Confirming Eligibility for GP Registration (CEGPR). National Performers List: Included on the National Medical Performers List

Familiar with the use of the following systems: SystmOne, ICE, Microsoft Office
