About this role

Job summary

To provide support to the multi-disciplinary team to deliver safe and responsive , high qualityEndoscopic procedures for all adult patients attending as both out and in patients in a caringand effective well led unit , following assessment and planning of requirements by a registerednurse, and providing support by undertaking non-nursing and ancillary duties

Main duties of the job

Assist in creating a physical and psychological environment conducive to the provision of high quality carefor all patients attending the endoscopy departmentAssist with the nursing/clinical needs of all patients attending the unit for endoscopic and other proceduresescalating any concerns.Communicate effectively with all members of the multi- disciplinary care team Liaise with the relevantagencies to promote seamless careProvide assistance and support to all colleagues as part of the multi-disciplinary team Take in part inthe initiation of new ideas and methods associated with the provision of care for endoscopy patientstheir carers and relativesActively participate in the promotion of health education Take responsibility for personal development andeducation and the development of a personal professional profile.Abide by the legal requirements, statutory rules, relevant local policies and procedures in the execution ofduties.

Clinical Responsibilities Adhere to Trust and Endoscopy Operational policy.Participate in all aspects of patient care assisting the RNs with admission and discharge recovery of patients post procedure Assisting in procedure rooms setting up of endoscopy equipment taking biopsies Escalating any concerns to the team leader Page | 3 Job Evaluation Ref: 202425-1465 Management and Leadership Responsibilities Provide assistance and support to all colleagues as part of the multi-disciplinary team escalate anyconcerns to the team leader department matron Policy and Service Development Take part in the initiation of new ideas and methods associated with the provision ofcare for endoscopy patients their carers and relatives actively participate in thepromotion of health education. Promote completion of local and trust patient satisfaction surveys Research and Audit Responsibilities Assist in research projects Promote the completion of local and trust surveys Managing Resources Responsibilities Maintain personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the job,participate in appropriate training activities. Participate in review of own performance regularly and development of personal developmentplan at least every 12 months Take responsibility for own actions Recognise own personal strengths and weaknesses and identify appropriate strategies toenhance the strengths and overcome or minimise the weaknesses Apply personal effectiveness skills in terms of time management, prioritisation, resourcemanagement, self-motivation and team work

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

NVQ 2 In Health care or Equivalent qualification. Literacy and Numeracy Grade C or above

Desirable

NVQ 3 In Health Care or equivalent qualification

Experience Essential

Previous experience in Health care setting

Desirable

Previous HCA experience in Endoscopy environment
