Job summary
Are you an OT (or soon-to-graduate OT Student) looking for a new challenge in a forensic mental health service.Would you like to work in an environment where the value of Occupational Therapy is recognised as essential for delivering optimal patient care?
Based in Lincoln, Harthsolme Centre is a 10-bed psychiatric intensive care unit for males with severe mental illness and higher needs.We support people recover to their optimum following a period of mental ill health, we support individuals to improve their quality of life. We work with people to manage their long-term mental health conditions to enable them to live well in their communities.
This position will have an additional £3000 environmental allowance and staff will be required to complete RRP course.
Main duties of the job
You will have the opportunity to participate and maintain high quality care within the ward environment to work alongside service users to aid in their recovery and transition back to independence.
You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Psychologists, Doctors, Nurses, Social Worker and Physical Health Care Nurse. As part of your Occupational Therapy Team you will have and Occupational Therapy Assistant.

Qualifications Essential
Occupational Therapist Qualification Registered with HCPC
Desirable
Additional knowledge and or training in MOHO model APPLE accreditation
Experience Essential
Knowledge and/or experience of working with adults with mental health needs or experience of working with adults with complex needs or adults with mental health needs and skills that are transferable
Desirable
Experience of working with people with acute mental health needs Experience of working in an inpatient setting Evidence of continuing professional development
Skills & Competences Essential
Some knowledge of national agenda for mental health. Good clinical reasoning skills. Skills in occupational therapy assessment and treatment Knowledge of clinical/risk assessment and understanding of Information Governance principles. Good communication skills. Ability to work independently and collectively. Highly motivated & able to engage with patients & carers to improve outcomes Understanding of the therapeutic relationship and boundaries
