Job summary
The Interstitial Lung Disease Nurse role is a new and exciting job opportunity for a dedicated and compassionate nurse covering the Torbay and South Devon footprint.
The ILD service is currently undergoing development and expansion and will provide the right candidate with an opportunity to work autonomously and as part of a supportive,dynamicand friendly team.
You will be working closely with the Consultant and Specialist Pharmacist as well as the wider Specialist Respiratory Nursing and medical team.The Torbay ILD service will link closely with the Specialist Centre for ILDprovidinga broad range of learning and development opportunities.
Main duties of the job
To providehigh qualityreview of inpatients admitted withILDensuring assessment, planning,implementationand evaluation of individualised programmes of care in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary teamTo provide nurse led clinics offeringhighlyexpert specialist nursing advice and support for patients who have been discharged from hospital with diagnosedILDor who have been referred from Primary care or by the Consultant
To work in collaboration with theTertiary centrein Exeterincluding attendance to the ILD MDT To provide nurse led clinicsand home visitsforILD patients, providing symptom management To provide support to consultant colleagues in the monitoring of patients with Interstitial Lung Diseases requiring anti-fibrotic treatment To safely prescribe and monitor medicinesappropriate tothe patient groupor work towards a prescribing qualification To safely prescribe andmonitorthe provision of home oxygen where needed To recognise and support ILD patients entering the palliative phase of their disease andbe responsible forappropriate onward referrals to palliative care services Toidentifyneed for and conduct ongoing audit of service provision to ensure best evidence based clinical practice and service improvement and to produce clinical guidelines based on this evidence To work with and support other members of the respiratory nursing team providing cross cover services when needed
