An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to work as part of the Surgical Division as Deputy General Manager (DGM) . This role would suit an enthusiastic and forward thinking person looking for that next step in operational management

The role of DGM, as well as providing a senior point of contact to Admin and Clerical staff, works closely with clinical and nursing leads to ensure a high standard of patient care is delivered, in line with the Trust policy and standard operating procedures. This is a busy, demanding and challenging role. In return this post offers significant development opportunities, including both professional and leadership development, together with an opportunity to work across a variety of community based services, equipping you with a broad knowledge and understanding of the acute and community services including working collaboratively with system partners.

You will supported every step of the way and have friendly, supportive and caring colleagues to work alongside.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will have previous experience of leading a team, managing change and resolving complex problems.

You will work closely with the General Manager to ensure the Trust's Access Policy is adhered to and that all relevant Trust Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met. You will bring knowledge of demand and capacity planning and in this role and have the ability to use data in order to drive decision making.

You will also be responsible for the personal development planning and learning needs of the staff within their own administrative team, as well as managing any human resource issues by providing direct supervision to the Administrative Teams. Excellent leadership skills and the need to demonstrate your ability to remain positive in challenging times are essential.

Experience Essential

Extensive, in depth NHS experience in an acute hospital setting

Qualifications Essential

Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification/equivalent level of experience

Skills Essential

Experience of service re-design, workforce planning, change and demand management Good team member with proven ability to lead, motivate, inspire and encourage collaborative working to improve service and team performance. Experience of financial management and budgetary control. Extensive experience of managing a team
