Job summary
We are looking for a HCA to join our team for 14 hours per week, ideally working on a Wednesday, thursday, Friday. The role of the HCA is an essential part of our GP Practice team who work as a multidisciplinary team to provide a full range of Primary Medical Services. You will be working alongside our friendly and patient focused nursing team in the delivery of nursing services, delivering care within your scope of practice to the patient population. The healthcare assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.

The role of HCA involves:
Phlebotomy ECG recording Performing routine and opportunistic BP checks, height, weight, BMI & urinalysis Undertake NHS Healthchecks Basic wound management including dressings and removal of stitches and clips. Provide adult vaccinations including influenza, covid, shingles and pneumococcal. support practice nurses in providing services for patients with long term conditions including diabetes and foot checks, CVD, mental Health and Learning Disability Health Checks. Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes with the opportunity to be involved in group consultations. Stock ordering. The role will include home visits.
A more experienced HCA will also be involved with:
Doppler assessment. Chronic wound management including leg ulcers INR Star monitoring Spirometry
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
GCSE in Maths and English
Desirable
NVQ Level 2/3 in Healthcare. Basic training in Healthcare including phlebotomy and basic dressings, vaccinations and long term condition's management.
Experience Essential
Experience in a healthcare setting. Experience of NHS Health checks. Trained in phlebotomy. Ability to read and record essential readings such as BP, weight and height. Experience and ability to dress basic wounds and remove stitches and clips. Access to a car for home visits.
Desirable
Experience of patient care within the care home environment. Experience of Chronic wound management. Trained in INR Star.
