About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Facilities Team working for Sheffield Teaching Hospitals based at the Northern General Hospital and the Royal Hallamshire Hospital as a Facilities Supervisor.

There are positions from 27 hours to 37.5 hours available.

Main duties of the job

Provide daily operational support to the Zone Co-ordinators in the delivery and co-ordination of the ward-based cleaning, deep cleaning, rapid response and general cleaning services.

To line manage domestic services staff, ensuring that the portfolio of services, ad-hoc tasks and projects are planned, managed and delivered effectively within the allocated budget.

To work as part of the operational Domestic Services Team and be responsible for ensuring the provision of a safe, efficient and high-quality domestic service to all wards and departments across the Trust.

With a key element of the role being to provide visible leadership at ward and department level working with and supporting the staff within responsibility area/zone.

To ensure adherence with the Trusts PROUD values.

Qualifications Essential

Educated to GCSE grade C/4or above (or equivalent) ILM Management certification or equivalent Evidence of work place learning Demonstrable commitment to personal development Industry recognised qualification in Food Safety level 3

Desirable

ECDL or other computer based qualification Edward Jenner NHS Leadership Academy Course

Knowledge and Experience Essential

Experience in staff management and supervision, incorporating recruitment and selection of staff/management of sickness absence in line with policies and procedures Ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines Experience of working with and building effective working relationships with staff of all disciplines Knowledge and experience of menu management, therapeutic and special diets and allergen controls

Desirable

Extensive staff supervisory experience Understanding of ISO9001:2015 quality management system

Special Skills/Aptitudes Essential

IT Literate Excellent communication skills Demonstrable leadership and communication skills Ability to work as part of a team Good inter-personal skills, self-motivated and able to work on own initiative Negotiating skills

Further Training Essential

Knowledge of domestic services and patient food services within the NHS Evidence of keeping up to date with (NHS) National Standards of Cleanliness 2021

Desirable

Experience of producing staff appraisals/development plans

Flexible and able to cover a variety of shifts as required
